How the reminders work
- A weekly overview on the day you choose: who has a birthday in the coming week. Or once a month.
- Favourites: a heart next to the people you never want to miss. For them you get a reminder 1, 3 or 7 days before, and on the day itself.
- At most one email a day. Several birthdays on one day are bundled into one message.
- One tap opens your calendar, so you see who it is and how old they turn.
A birthday reminder service that works everywhere
Hoera is a website, not a download. That makes it a birthday reminder for your PC, your laptop and your phone at once: the same calendar everywhere, and the reminder in the inbox you already check.
Why email, and not another notification
Push notifications are easy to swipe away and easy to turn off, and they only work on the phone where the app is installed. An email is waiting for you when you sit down, on any device, and you can act on it right there: order a card, send a message, plan a call.
And because there is no app, the people in your group don’t need one either. They tap a link once, add their birthday, and pick their own reminders.
Birthday reminders for grown-ups
No badges, no streaks, no ads for gifts you didn’t ask for. Just who, when, and how old. You decide how often you hear from us, and turning it off is one tap.
The reminders your phone already has
For the birthdays you already know, your phone can remind you too. Honestly: these work well, as long as you type in every date yourself.
iPhone
Add the birthday to the person in Contacts. In Settings, Calendar, Default Alert Times you set when the Birthdays alert fires, for example a day before. Only for contacts with a birthday filled in.
Android and Samsung
Google Calendar shows birthdays from your Google Contacts; turn on the Birthdays calendar and set a notification. Samsung Calendar does the same from Samsung Contacts.
On a PC
Google Calendar and Outlook both show contact birthdays on the desktop. Email reminders from Hoera arrive there too, whatever you use.
