Why a calendar other people fill in works better
A birthday calendar is only as good as what’s in it, and that is the problem. You never know all the dates: your cousin’s new partner, your coworker’s kids, the brother-in-law whose birthday you look up every single year.
With Hoera you don’t enter everyone. Everyone adds themselves. That is always right, because nobody forgets their own birthday. When a baby arrives, the parents add it. You don’t have to keep anything up to date.

A birthday calendar app, without the download
Most birthday calendar apps only work for the person who installed them. Hoera runs in the browser, so it works the same on iPhone, on Android and on a computer, and nobody in your group has to download anything to join.
- On iPhone: open Hoera in Safari, tap Share and choose ‘Add to Home Screen’.
- On Android: open Hoera in Chrome, tap the menu and choose ‘Add to Home screen’.
- On a computer: just open hoera.app. Your calendar is the same everywhere.
From then on it sits between your other apps, with one tap to your calendar.

Is there a free birthday calendar app?+
Yes, this one. Hoera is free and works on iPhone, Android and your computer. It runs in the browser, so there is nothing to download, and you can add it to your home screen like any app.
Is Hoera really free?+
Yes. The calendar and the email reminders cost nothing, now and later. Only reminders on WhatsApp cost €19 a year, because WhatsApp charges us per message.
Do the others have to install an app?+
No. They tap the link, enter their name, birthday and email address, and confirm once with a code from their inbox. No app to install. It works on iPhone, Android and on a computer.
Can I add someone who doesn’t have a smartphone?+
Yes. Put them in your calendar yourself, for example grandpa or a neighbour. That person is visible only to you.
Who sees my birthday?+
Only the people in the groups you add yourself to. There is no public profile, and nobody sees your email address.
Can I hide my age?+
Yes. The year of birth is optional. Leave it out and others only see the day and the month.
Can I print my birthday calendar or design one with photos?+
No. Hoera is a living calendar with reminders, not a design tool. For a printable birthday calendar with photos, a template or design site is the better fit.
What does Hoera mean?+
Hoera is Dutch for hooray, which is what you shout when someone has a birthday. You say it like hoo-rah.
Does Hoera work outside the Netherlands?+
Yes. Hoera is made in the Netherlands and works anywhere: the reminders simply arrive in your inbox. Prices are in euros.
